Description
Please confirm the following.
- I checked the existing issues for duplicate problems
- I have tried resolving the issue using the support portal
- I have ensured my Modrinth App installation is up to date
What version of the Modrinth App are you using?
0.12.2
What operating systems are you seeing the problem on?
Windows
Describe the bug
When I check the caches folder in the path listed under App Directory in the Resource Management section of the settings, the only sub-folder inside is icons, missing the metadata folder that apparently should be present according to this article.
The file manager, with the caches folder open (quite cropped due to potential privacy concerns, but you can tell what it is)

Steps to reproduce
- Open Modrinth Launcher
- Click the settings button in the bottom right
- Go to the Resource Management section
- Navigate to the file path listed under "App directory"
- Click on the caches folder
- If you are suffering from the same bug I am, congratulations.
Expected behavior
I expected for there to be a metadata folder in the caches, which would contain the minecraft_auth.json file and possibly a few others.
Additional context
This occured as I was attempting to resolve a persistant "Invalid Session" error upon attempting to join a server, which this article on the Modrinth Help page suggested I attempt to delete the minecraft_auth.json file, after all other methods failed. Other launchers, including the default launcher and Prism function normally.
